Goldens are one of the most popular breeds for a reason: they're sociable, affectionate, and biddable. They're also a serious commitment in time, energy, and vet bills.
Daily reality
Plan on at least 90 minutes of exercise daily — a mix of physical and mental work. Goldens left under-exercised get destructive and gain weight quickly.
Grooming
That coat sheds heavily twice a year and moderately the rest of the time. Brush at least three times a week; daily during shedding seasons. Plan for a vacuum upgrade.
Health-wise, Goldens are predisposed to hip dysplasia and several cancers. Choose a breeder with verified health testing, keep them lean, and stay on top of preventive vet care.
